Review:

The Last Highlander by Claire Cross (Claire Delacroix) is an excellent time travel. The heroine, Morgan, is travelling through modern day Scotland with her sister Justine and her brother-in-law Blake. Morgan is an artist and is trying to create children's books using the tales and landscapes of Scotland as inspiration. Her brother-in-law on the other hand, has no time to absorb anything, as he tries to see the most of the island in the shortest amount of time. At Edinburgh Castle, Morgan comes across Alasdair MacAuley, a kilted Scot who seems very confused. Morgan assumes him to be a drunken living history interpreter employed by the castle, and is not very impressed, despite his good looks. But things start to change after she meets Alasdair. For one, the tour books have changed, as has history, and only Morgan seems to be aware of it. She becomes suspicious of Alasdair's origins, while at the same time finding herself more attracted to him. I had expected the time travel to be in the opposite direction and was therefore interested in how things would develop. Claire pulls this off beautifully. She depicts the nineties lifestyle so well with current events and trends that allow the reader to become completely drawn into the story. The humor is wonderful, ranging from the klutzy (and therefore appealing) heroine to the Star Wars references. Claire Cross has a way with words; her description of Alasdair had my toes curling. Her secondary characters were multi dimensional -- I even found myself liking Blake at the end. This is an excellent read that I would highly recommend. I'm off to read her other books and can't wait for her next ones. Claire Cross is a talent in the paranormal romance genre that will stand out.One of the best time travel I have ever read Claire Cross makes The Last Highlander believable and enchanting.
