Grade 3-5-- An introduction to our culturally and ethnically diverse capital, highlighting its history, economy, and historic sites of interest. A timeline, map, glossary, and index make the information easily accessible, while the full-color photographs sustain interest. The book seems to be a scaled-down version of Kent's Washington, D. C. (Childrens, 1990), with less narrative and descriptive detail for slightly younger audiences. Photographs in both titles are similar, and the street map is identical. Fradin does mention the new mayor and the city's 200th anniversary, but the information in both books can be found in any good encyclopedia. --Pamela K. Bomboy, Chesterfield County Public Schools, VA
