The front flap prompt for this collection of Aubrey Beardsley's drawings advises that it contains his art in full, including "beauty and decadance. sensuality, and sin, in"bringing together for the first time" the scope of his artisctic field," while the author writes that "no other book combines the very best of Beardsley's drawings with a text essential to a thorough understanding of the artist." The collection contains all the major works that brought the artist fame, or notority, including drawings from early privately published publications, some not seen before. There also a selection of forgeries, claimed to have been Beardsley originals. A friend of the artist, Arthur Symons, has compiled an appreciation of his spersonal reminiscences with a critical evaluation of his art. .Beardsley was only 26 when he died in France in 1898 from inherited tuberculosis. First published in 1968 with this Harmony Books reprint in 1976, 198 pages with approx 200+ individual b/w illustrations, many full page. Yellow hard covers NF with a lighter frabric spine strip with black spine titles, small former owner ink name top FFEP, text block otherwise NF. Colour art DJ is VG+ with two tiny chips top edge near spine top. This large and heavy book, just over 900 grams unpacked, could require additional postage for international delivery.
