The fiendish "X" marks the spot for buried treasure. Using unadorned upper-case letters, this is an entertaining and instructive ABC book. There might be a question of intended audience, but the vivid depiction of the marine environment makes the book useful for school projects on aquatic life and enjoyable as a seaside alphabet book or a beautiful coffee-table book for browsing. --Frances E.
