PreSchool-Each page of this simple book introduces a child from a different country either mailing, writing, or reading an air-mail letter. Hoban's characteristic drawings have few details but show distinctive national features, landmarks, or dress. The repeated refrain ties them all together: "And each one is much like another./A child of a mother and a father./A very special son or daughter./A lot like me and you." Unlike Raffi's Down by the Bay (1988), Shake My Sillies Out (1988), and Baby Beluga (1990, all Crown), this title is best suited to one-on-one sharing with an adult who can expand upon the concept and extend the minimal text.
