Book Description:
This is the second volume of a comprehensive and up-to-date two-volume treatise on the mathematical theory of deterministic control systems modeled by multi-dimensional partial differential equations (distributed parameter systems). Emphasis is placed on boundary/point control and observation. The abstract, unifying treatment is illustrated with many concrete examples. Volume 2 presents the optimal control problem over a finite time interval for hyperbolic dynamical systems, including many new results. These volumes will appeal to graduate students and researchers in pure and applied mathematics and theoretical engineering with an interest in optimal control problems.
