It showed stars to the magnitude of 6.5 and was issued as a set of maps by the British Astronomical Association in 1981. Ian Ridpath is an English astronomy writer and broadcaster, who is also editor of Norton's Star Atlas and the Oxford Dictionary of Astronomy.

Wil Tirion is a Dutch celestial carographer, widely regarded as the leading exponent of his art in the world.
