Synopsis

Marsupials are a unique group of mammals, typically associated with Australia, although many species occur in South America. The last 20 years have seen many exciting discoveries leading to significant developments in our understanding of marsupial biology, so much so that they are coming to be seen as model organisms in studies of life history evolution, ageing and senescence, sex determination and the development and regeneration of the nervous system. This volume provides a synthesis of recent developments in marsupial biology, bringing together knowledge currently scattered througout the primary literature.
