About the Author

Emigrating from Cuba in 1962 at the age of ten, Manuel Pardo left behind both his family and Fidel Castro s communist regime to begin a new life in the United States. His mother, Gladys Pardo joined him and his sister in 1966. In tribute to his mother, Pardo was most known for his series of portraits featuring a glamorous, impeccably dressed, beautiful woman. These artworks represent a shrine to his mother expressing his gratitude by drawing her amidst the luxuries she sacrificed to provide for her children. Pardo s works have been widely exhibited in the United States, Europe and Mexico.
