From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-K-- On their vacation, Rockwell's familiar Bear family (mother, father, androgynous child) go on a two-week camping trip. Brief descriptions show some type of very general activity ("We get in our car and away we go!" reads the text, while the picture shows the family, in their car, waving good-bye to their neighbors). These are interspersed with double-page spreads showing labelled objects related to the activity ("This is what we see as we drive along the road"). The story begins with packing bags and ends with returning home; it is told in a straightforward way. Lively watercolor-and-ink pictures complement the text with their clarity and understatement. The middle-class world of this Bear family is positive, cheerful, and active (their interests range from painting to fishing to surfing). This book is best suited for those communities in which family vacations of this type are the norm. --Lauralyn Persson, Wilmette Public Library, IL
