Synopsis
The third edition of this text provides a thorough discussion of the rationale for using group counselling, looks at the differing approaches of each author to group counselling, outlines practical suggestions on the skills needed for effective facilitations of groups, and gives guidelines for forming a group and solutions to common problems. In addition the authors place much emphasis on concerns specific to working with children and concerns specific to working with the elderly.

Book Description
In this book Dr. Dreikurs deals with the psychological and social factors that are responsible for our present-day confusion in resolving the problems of sex and love in marriage. The understanding of the influence of these two basic factors will help the individual in his efforts to solve such common problems as choosing a mate, getting along together, finding sexual happiness, dealing with infidelity and jealousy, and the rearing of children. The book is not moralistic but, rather, analytical and explanatory. Nevertheless, it places the strongest emphasis on the responsibility of each individual who, through personal attitudes, not only determines his own marital happiness but also influences the development of the group in which he lives.
About the Author
Rudolf Dreikurs, M.D. (b. 1897, d. 1972), was a younger colleague of Alfred Adler in Vienna, Austria, and following the death of Adler in 1937, Dreikurs expanded Adler's work in North America and around the world.
Pearl Cassel, M.Ed., is an internationally acclaimed public speaker, columnist and of many books and articles. She wrote "Why Kids Jump Over the Moon" and co-authored "The Challenge of Adolescence" and "Coping with Teenagers in a Democracy." She has lectured at all major universities in Canada, is a founding director of The Alfred Adler Institute of Ontario, and taught elementary school in England and Canada for 35 years.
Eva Dreikurs Ferguson, Ph.D., is professor of psychology at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. She is an active researcher, the author of journal articles and books, notably "Motivation: A Biosocial and Cognitive Integration of Motivation and Emotion"; "Adlerian Theory: An Introduction;" and is the editor of the book "Equality and Social Interest." Dr. Ferguson has also republished many books written by her father, Dr. Rudolf Dreikurs.
