Reviews

Despite a dry text with little visual interest, two nutritionists from the Strang Center (affiliated with Cornell) have contributed worthwhile information--and recipes--to the keep America healthy. In addition to the explanatory data, the more than 150 recipes contain boxes on nutritional breakdowns, such as "major sources of potential cancer fighters." The 45 contributors are no simple home chefs; among them are Manhattan's Daniel Boulud and Chicago's Charlie Trotter. Innovative combinations of ingredients and streamlined low-fat cooking techniques--a no-fuss broccoli soufflegets our vote--will earn reader raves. Packaging, in sum, isn't everything.
