Grade 7-10 After a brief discussion of the web of life, the authors describe the effects of pesticides, garbage, toxic wastes and nuclear hazards on the environment. Hyde's For Pollution Fighters Only (McGraw-Hill, 1971; o.p.) and Pringle's The Only Earth We Have (Macmillan, 1969) cover much the same information in similar formats, but the material in Pollution on acid rain, Love Canal, Three Mile Island and other recent developments make this a much-needed addition on this topic. The glossary is adequate, but the bibliography too brief. Clear black-and-white photographs, wide margins and comfortable print make this a most attractive volume. Meryl Silverstein, Meyer Levin J .
