Grade 4-7-- A brief, matter-of-fact presentation. Readers get a glimpse of Drew's personal life, but Wolfe mainly concentrates on the doctor's educational and professional accomplishments. Racial incidents are reported but are not dwelt upon. The book is attractively packaged with many full-color and black-and-white photographs, and large print. This is,however, misleading since the reading level is much higher than the format would indicate. A better choice isRobyn Mahone-Lonesome's Charles Drew (Chelsea, 1990), which has more information, explains Drew's accomplishments more fully, and includes many of the same photographs. --Mar tha Gordon, South Salem Library, NY
