A text with emphasis on the design of power systems. The authors use their extensive teaching experience to present methods of power system analysis and design, with thorough coverage of basic theory. Symmetrical components are covered early in chapter 3, allowing modelling on a three-phase basis of power transformers in chapter 4 and of transmission lines in chapter 5. Chapter 2 on fundamentals helps students to familiarize themselves with terminology and to refresh their memories regarding phasor concepts - both single and three-phase circuit aspects. There is a complete, self-contained chapter on transmission transients and an integration of personal computer applications to power systems.

About the Author
A Ph.D. from MIT, J. Duncan Glover is President and Principal Engineer at Failure Electrical, LLC. He was a Principal Engineer at Exponent Failure Analysis Associates and a tenured Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Northeastern University. He has held several engineering positions with companies, including the International Engineering Company and the American Electric Power Service Corporation. Dr. Glover specializes in issues pertaining to electrical engineering, particularly as they relate to failure analysis of electrical systems, subsystems, and components, including causes of electrical fires.
