9780534168018: Trigonometry for College Students

Synopsis

This text offers a sound mathematical foundation combined with an informal writing style that students can read, understand, and enjoy. Smith defines the circular function on a unit circle first, and generalizes the definition in terms of any point on the terminal side of the angle. He focuses on learning trigonometry as a function of an angle and emphasizes conceptual understanding. Thorough discussion of the use of the graphing calculator enhances students' understanding of the material, however, instructors may choose whether or not to use the graphing calculator in their own development of the material.
