Das capitalizes on the major strengths of the Second Edition by including more coverage of the design process via real world case studies in selected chapters, and design problems. A major feature of the Third Edition package is Spreadsheet Applications For Geotechnical Engineering by Thomas F. Wolff (Michigan State University). This ancillary contains spreadsheet templates on disk in both Lotus 1-2-3 and Borland QuattroPro formats, plus a print component containing instructions for use and student exercises (see SMP for Wolff: Spreadsheets For Geotechnical Engineering).
