Synopsis
This book is a compilation of real cases submitted by social workers and faculty teaching social work courses. The cases help students understand how clients, issues, and agencies interact, as well as see how that understanding connects with the actual "doing" of generalist social work practice. The cases reflect a broad range of courses in the social work curriculum.

About the Authors
Robert Rivas received his M.S.W. from Arizona State University with an area of concentration in direct practice with individuals, families and groups, and a Post Masters Certificate in Social Work Education from Tulane University. He has been a professor in the Social Work department at Siena College since 1980. Bob has also taught at SUNY-Albany, Southern Vermont College, Minot State University and Turtle Mountain Chippewa Tribal College. Bob's practice areas include family and children's services and group work. In addition to this publication, Bob has co-authored a group book for Allyn and Bacon. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Council on Social Work Education.
Grafton Hull is a full professor at the University of Utah College of Social Work. He founded and directed the College's BSW Program. He has 38 years of experience teaching at BSW, MSW, and Ph.D. levels. His practice experience includes work in human service agencies providing mental health, child welfare, and juvenile justice programs. He holds a BS in sociology, an MSW, and a doctorate in education (counseling, guidance, and personnel services). Hull is the co-author of seven texts and numerous articles in social work journals. He has served on the CSWE Board of Directors, Commission on Accreditation, and Nominations Committee; and as a President of the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors (BPD), from which he received the Significant Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. His biography is listed in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA.
