About the Author

Michael G. Moore is Professor of Education in the Department of Learning and Performance Systems at the Pennsylvania State University. He served as Director of the American Center for the Study of Distance Education from 1986 to 2002, and as Editor of The American Journal of Education from 1986 to the present time. He has worked at the British Open University and the World Bank and continues as a consultant to the World Bank, UNESCO, and IMF as well as several national governments, universities, and corporations. Moore served a four-year term as Vice-President of the International Council for Distance Education, and was a founding member of the Board of the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA). He was inducted into the USDLA s Hall of Fame in 2002.
