The latest edition of an undergraduate text first published in the late 1970s responds to the evolution of programming, as pressure from the Internet and mergers among networks, program suppliers, cable operators, and telephone companies continue to alter the economics of the business. New material includes an emphasis on promotion, a chapter covering online video and audio programming, the consolidation of other topics, and chapter-closing forecasts of anticipated developments in industry trends and audience behavior.
