"It's very user-friendly for students. It's very practical. It's easy to follow. I like the way the book actually does coach a student through the journalistic process ... I can't say that about too many other textbooks I have used."
"The book is well written with an obvious enthusiasm for journalism. Rich's style is fluid and easy to read ... The multicultural chapter is especially well done."
"The writing style is accessible and interesting; a number of my students have said they enjoy reading the book. The explanations are clear and the examples are helpful. I appreciate that the examples include situations in large urban areas as well as small towns ... (Also,) The examples of real reporters tackling real stories are excellent and, at times, inspiring."
