With the most up-to-date research, balanced perspectives of masculinity and femininity, a personal introduction to the field, and a conversational first-person writing style, GENDERED LIVES provides students with an engaging text that encourages them to think critically about gender and our society.

Review:
"I am so high on this textbook because it's 'real' and it 'empowers.' It clearly states how we are socialized about gender issues and that we have a choice on what socialization to accept or reject."

"(Julia Wood's) examples, particularly the inclusion of students' voices, prompt reflection and provoke debate on the complicated and often controversial subject of gender issues in the Twenty-First Century. I highly recommend this stimulating and engaging book."
