Synopsis
This book and disk package uses MATLAB-based procedures and functions to carry out computations in basic probability. An accompanying disk contains .M-files with scripts for the functions and procedures employed, data .M-files for some of the problems, and solutions to the reinforcement problems. With the burden of computation removed, students concentrate on the underlying model, problem formulation, strategies of solution, and interpretation of results. Many interesting problems in this course become feasible only because of the ease of computing the results using MATLAB power functions.
