Scott Gague is a biology professor who struggles with a belief in God. That struggle persists even when a tragedy in his life makes faith necessary for survival. Through immense sorrow, through the rebuilding of his life, Scott's faith grows and wanes as the questions of evil in the world and of free will play out in his life, and the nature of mercy, grace and forgiveness challenge him.
