About the Author:
Tom s de Iriarte y Nieves Ravelo (1750-1791). Espa a. Naci en el Puerto de la Cruz de Orotava (Canarias) el 18 de septiembre de 1750. Estudi en Madrid con su t o don Juan de Iriarte. Fue oficial traductor de la Secretar a de Estado y archivero del Consejo Supremo de la Guerra. Amigo de los autores m s destacados de su poca, Iriarte concurri a la tertulia de la Fonda de San Sebasti n y tom parte en las pol micas contra Sedano, Huerta y Forner. La obra m s conocida de Iriarte es las F bulas literarias (1782). Fue procesado por la Inquisici n en 1786 y muri de gota, en Madrid, el 17 de septiembre de 1791.
