Synopsis
Daren King is the author of three previous novels - "Boxy An Star", "Jim Giraffe", and "Tom Boler", a sensational prequel to "Boxy An Star". His children's book "Mouses Noses on Toast" will be published by us next year and he's keen to move his adult fiction over from Cape to Faber. "Boxy An Star" was longlisted for the Booker Prize. It was hailed in "The Independent" as 'like some delirious encounter between PG Wodehouse and William S Burroughs'. Liz Jensen called it an 'original, poignant, funny book', and Julie Myerson pronounced him 'a scorchingly poetic writer'. Matt Thorne said 'Daren King is a genius, and "Jim Giraffe" is a masterpiece'. He's working on a new novel, provisionally titled "Hello Robot", which he describes as 'being the fun of "Jim Giraffe" with the darkness of "Boxy an Star"'. He is also working on a screenplay for the film of "Boxy", to be directed by the photographer Rankin.

About the Author
Daren King was born in 1972 in Harlow, Essex. He was educated at Bath Spa University College, Bath, where he graduated in creative studies. He is the author of Boxy An Star, which was shortlisted for the 1999 Guardian First Book Award, and Jim Giraffe. Mouse Noses on Toast won the 2006 Nestle Children's Prize Gold Award.
