YA Mystery buffs who love the flow and style of the British detective novel will enjoy this joint effort. Read straight through, as it no doubt will be by some readers, it is the untangling of the poisoning deaths of a dowager and her newly hired nurse. Set in a typical sleepy British village, complete with a middle-aged police inspector, the case abounds with clues and red herrings. Rather than leaving readers to fathom the entanglements alone, the authorsand there are five who pick up Sayers' first chaptershare the workings of their minds with readers by way of notes and addendum. Each has an angle on how the tale should work itself out. There are enough changes along the way to throw slipshod readers off the track, and some of the shifts result in errors and inconsistencies that may annoy careful readers. But for those mystery lovers who never quite figure out how the authors make them work, this is an intriguing way to peek behind the scenes.
