This is a book that climbers will like, but perhaps only British climbers. It's a conglomeration of 37 essays that appeared between 1968 and 1985 in various British journals dealing with climbing. The writing varies in tone from artsy, adjective-laden prose to gripping dramatic narrative. With its focus so narrowly limited to Great Britain, more specifically to Wales, it is recommended for only the most comprehensive mountaineering collections. Thomas K. Fry, UCLA Libs.
