Be ready for the last day of school with a children’s picture book that tells the tale of the Summer Fairy, a magical pixie who bestows seasonal gifts to children on the first day of summer. This is a family tradition that’s been celebrated for more than 30 years, and a fun way to remind children about summer safety. A collapsible, reusable flower vase is included in the back pocket of the book and inspires readers to leave a flower for the Summer Fairy.

Elizabeth Gillihan was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was raised for the majority of her childhood in the northeastern suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio, and is the oldest of three children. As the daughter of entrepreneurs, she spent much of her life working for the family business and has always been inspired by her parent’s drive and creative spirit. Elizabeth is a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She married her high school sweetheart and continued her teaching career until an opportunity to help her family’s business in the sales department presented itself. While life has been consumed with her family, she found herself wanting to scratch that creative itch. Holidays and celebrations have always played an important role in Elizabeth’s childhood. After watching her children embrace other family traditions, she was inspired to share her family’s magical story of the Summer Fairy.
