Everybody feels sad sometimes. Follow My'Angel's journey as she learns how to feel sad sometimes and still find her smile again. Walk like a dinosaur, breathe like a chicken, be still, and listen to your body. All children can benefit from adding these basic mindfulness skills to their wellness toolkit. The Mindfulness Room is a beautifully illustrated and fun family read, a touching story, perfect for teaching kids how to meditate and introducing them to mindfulness strategies that can help them manage their bodies, breath, and emotions. Bonus material includes the Mindfulness Room ABCs, where each letter of the alphabet is paired with an engaging illustration and explanation of the various techniques and movements mentioned throughout the book.

"The Mindfulness Room written by Amanda Lynch is an important and necessary book for young readers to learn how to cope with big feelings and emotions. Beautifully illustrated by Bonnie Lemaire, each page is engaging with calming colors, bringing the story of a young girl "My'Angel" (whom is coping with her father's death) to life. As a parent my hope is for every school to have a mindfulness room with a "Ms. Lynch" to help children deal with life's challenges and to provide them with the right tools they need to overcome them. The brilliant ABC glossary at the end of the book is such a helpful guide for the reader to really learn how to become mindful of their mind, body and soul, setting a strong and positive foundation for today's youth." --Leat Regwan, MagicBeans Bookstore
"One of the best new Mindfulness books."--BookAuthority
"What a delightful and moving story!! It is so refreshing tosee the 'Mindfulness' movement represented in the story of a little girl ofcolor and her teacher who looks just like her. Representation and relationshipsdo matter. Sharing this story through the experience of a little girl from acommunity that is often overlooked fills a great need in children's literature. The book serves a dual purpose - providing a story that many children canrelate to and guidance for educators as an introduction to 'Mindfulness' as aneffective strategy to assist in the healthy social-emotional development of children. The alphabetical glossary is brilliant!
I will definitely add this to my collection of 'mirror books'and encourage classroom teachers and librarians everywhere to do the same. Ianticipate that My'Angel will become one of our childhood storybook characters whowill be remembered for many years to come!!"
-Dr. Joy Lawson Davis, Author, Scholar and Educational Consultant
"Guided by her own experience teaching mindfulness, Amanda Lynch has written a lovely guide to mindfulness for children. Beautifully illustrated and cleverly written, "The Mindfulness Room" helps both children and adults see the value of teaching mindfulness skills to children. This is a great resource for anyone who is interested in sharing some peace and calm with stressed-out kids."-Holly Rogers, Co-developer of the Koru Mindfulness program and Psychiatrist at Counseling and Psychological Services Student Counseling Services at Duke University.
"This book takes real life traumatic experiences and weaves in the power of compassion and connection that teachers have with their students. Amanda incorporates mindfulness activities into the story, children will be able to use these tools in their daily lives. The Mindfulness Room is a wonderful gift for so many of our students who come to school each day with their trauma and don't know how to handle their feelings."- Jim Sporleder, Trauma Informed Schools Expert & Former Principal of Lincoln High School in Walla Walla, WA.
