About the Author

Ruth Mitchell's career as a travel writer took her to many delightful places. Her gigs as a freelancer educated her in the ways of the world. Her positions as an editor for At Home in Arkansas and Arkansas Business taught her to manage lots and lots of little fires. As the author of Arkansas Heritage, a state-adopted elementary history text, she learned to be accurate. As a novelist she is learning her toughest lesson yet, how to engage readers through stories.

Beyond is Ruth Mitchell's second novel. She began writing it with the Fantasy novel Two Moons of Merth folded into it as the work of her female protagonist, Laura Haskell. "I really enjoyed writing two stories at once. It tamed my ADS, but it became too confusing for readers, and I separated them. Now that Beyond is complete, I will commence devoting my energies to complete The Two Moons of Merth, a fantasy novel that deals with women's issues.

"I really feel like my stories write themselves. I am merely the typist and a second-rate editor. Beyond was so much fun to write. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did."
