About the Author

Janiel Wagstaff has worked as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, University instructor, and Early Childhood Teacher Certification program director. She regularly consults and works in classrooms locally and nationally and currently teaches kindergarten in a year round school in Utah. Her expertise and interest in early literacy has lead to two books: Phonics That Work! New Strategies for the Reading/Writing Classroom (Scholastic, 1994) and Phonemic Awareness and Phonics StrategiesThat Work (Bureau of Education & Research, 1997). Her writing on literacy topics has also appeared in The Reading Teacher and Instructor magazine.
