Starting with a general statement ("What is a frog?"), 11 intriguing topics are presented, with each double-spread dominated by a spectacular color photo. Short, snappy facts, observations, or folklore allusions loosely linked to the topic are placed around the focal photo, each one illustrated by a small full-color sketch, cartoon, or photo, for an eye-grabbing page. The introductory information is lively, with the appeal of "believe-it-or-not" that can lead to more delving. (Are all toads frogs? Is the Great Sphinx's face that of a woman?)
