Gr. 1^-2. The liberal use of quotes and sentences that are a bit more complicated than those in basic readers mark this book in the Hello Reader! graduated series. There are also plenty of pictures to enliven the story, which has an appealing sports backdrop as well as a valuable message that's perfect for the age group. Freddy and Mark are friends until it comes to choosing teams and playing football. Then Freddy loses his temper and lashes out with fists and feet. His teacher calms things down, but it's really words of wisdom from his classmates that best help Freddy deal with his angry feelings. Stephanie Zvirin
