From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-K-- Large, bright watercolor illustrations are the highlight of these two books. In Tools , each double-page spread is filled with neatly laid out and labeled objects used in woodworking, building, gardening, writing, and painting. A two-page glossary explains in simple terms the use of many of the tools and related articles listed. Wheels features transportation from baby carriages and bikes to cars, buses, trains, and planes. Part of the fun is the interesting juxtaposition of items linked to the use of the pictured vehicle: a winner's cup with the race car; busfare, backpack, and map with a bus; luggage with the train. It enlarges the concept of wheels from mere mechanics to include the people who interact with them. The illustrations in both books, set against ample white space, are highly realistic and have an almost photographic quality. The books are reminiscent in style and format of the ``My First Look At'' series (Random), which has photographs. Fine updates of similar books by the Rockwells and Gail Gibbons, these colorful and perky chronicles will be welcomed by tots endlessly fascinated by seeing and naming the objects around them. --Marge Loch-Wouters, Menasha Pub .
