Reviews

Kindergarten-Grade 3?An introduction suggests that readers keep a special journal of their science experiments, observations, and discoveries. It also warns them that some activities might be dangerous and that they should ask for adult help. The book is then divided into demonstrations on liquids, kitchen science, weather, plants, and animals. Within each section there are usually three activities, many of which are related to or build upon one another. Readers are introduced to such events as a ketchup race, milk streamers, sun clock, milk glue, and floured rain drops. Intriguing and clever, these exercises will be enjoyed as games as well as science projects. Even when principles are not explained, comparisons and conclusions may be drawn. Informative and helpful illustrations are combined with clear and concise directions. Entertaining introductory science.?Rosie Peasley, Empire Union School District, Modesto, CA
