Kindergarten-Grade 3?The Dumb Bunnies are, well, dumb. While Momma and Poppa watch the Orange Bowl and the Super Bowl, Baby watches the Toilet Bowl. When it begins to rain, they decide it is a perfect day to go to the beach. They pack sack lunches, pouring soup into paper bags; they literally buy a tub of popcorn at the movies. There is little plot here, only a cycle of puns and jokes. The humor is unsophisticated and, like Harry Allard and James Marshall's "The Stupids" (Houghton), it is likely to irritate many adults and delight children. Pilkey's illustrations extend the text. The family members?Momma with her cat's-eye glasses, Poppa in his flower-sprigged briefs, and all with huge front teeth?look extremely absurd, yet somehow cheerful.
