About the Author

Daniel Cohen is the author of numerous nonfiction books on ghosts and other paranormal phenomena. He lives in Mt. Kisco, New York.

From School Library Journal

Grade 6-8?Cohen's latest collection of "true" horror fits in well with the current vampire vogue, but it lacks the tight focus of many of his previous books. The accounts are of nonliterary vampires, e.g., creatures that people actually believed in. However, not all the vampires here are "real," even according to this rather broad criteria. Several chapters focus on vampire folklore of various cultures, while Dracula, Lord Ruthven, and Varney all make appearances. Some of the selections have appeared elsewhere, but Cohen's chatty style makes them eminently readable and moderates the inherent violence and gore of the subject. While this is not one of the author's best, libraries with a demand for "true" horror material will want to consider it.?Elaine E. Knight, Lincoln Elementary Schools, IL
