Synopsis
Tom Penny's father is stabbed to death just as the family prepares to emigrate to Canada. Tom and his mother find passage on a ship, but are hounded by a brutal sailor who follows Tom to Canada. Through smuggling rum to Québec City, clearing land on the family farm near By-Towne and working the winter in a logging camp along the Gatineau River, this figure never lets up in his search for Tom. Could he be involved in Tom's father's death? What is his motive?
