Feeling bored, Lucinda decides to give a tea party for all the dolls in the nursery.

PreSchool-- Beautiful photographs of porcelain dolls in Victorian dresses, often with lace hats propped atop their ringlets, accompany an unimpressive text. The story revolves around a group of dolls who come together for a tea party at the invitation of Lucinda, the oldest and most bored doll in the nursery. Victoria helps Lucinda prepare for this social occasion by setting the table, calling the florist, and preparing fruit salad, buns, and French sticks. The choppy, rigid text is lacking in rhythm, in lyricism, and in imagination. There is no cohesiveness to the story, and it's totally uninteresting. Skip this one--even the photographs do not warrant its purchase. --Leslie Barban, Richland County Public Library, Columbia, SC
