About the Author

BRITTA TECKENTRUP has written and illustrated over seventy children's books, which have been published in over twenty countries. Her books include Tree, Bee, Moon, Ocean, Home, Bugs, and Family in the Peek-Through Picture Book series, as well as Under the Same Sky, which was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal. Born in Hamburg, Germany, and educated in London at St. Martin's College and the Royal College of Art, she lives with her family in Berlin.

PreS-A bear cub explores different kinds of animal homes before settling in a cave for winter hibernation with its mother. Cutouts reveal each animal's home as the cub visits habitats on land, underground, and above it. Repetition, rhyming, and alliteration are used to great effect and make this an excellent read-aloud for young listeners. Teckentrup is brilliant and playful; as usual, her vibrant illustrations are the best part of this ongoing series. Each established environment is full of wonder, with the inquisitive bear cub accompanying readers until winter comes. The addition of occasionally scientific vocabulary provides possibilities for continued learning.
