About the Author
Lisa Edwards is a former children’s publisher who is now a freelance writer, editor, and Yoga teacher. She splits her time between the United Kingdom and India, and is committed to bringing the spiritual ideas she has learned to a young audience, to encourage them to discover and celebrate the joy that lies inside every living being, including themselves.
Kat Kalindi is an illustrator and surface pattern designer from the sunny Gold Coast, Australia. Kat has been illustrating for over twelve years. She has a love of pop Asian culture, Hello Kitty toys, Russian dolls, Scandinavian folk art, bold colors, geometrics, and vintage children’s illustrations.

PreS-K—A star makes its way across the winter sky, inspiring bears, foxes, geese, wolves, and other animals in the evergreen forest below to follow. Each stanza is bracketed by the warm and comforting phrases, "You are the light" and "Little Star, we love you." This reverent tone extends into the pleasingly mellow flat-style illustrations, with cool landscapes against hazy blue and purple skies. Though the star's ultimate landing place atop a pine tree subtly suggests Christmas iconography, the overall work avoids restricting itself to a particular tradition and roots its appeal in broad, tender emotion. VERDICT A lovely work of rhyming verse, and a recommended first purchase.
