Reviews

PreS-Moms are shown making a positive difference in their communities, on the job, and in their families in this board book. Simple text of one to two lines per page describes different careers moms can have, including writers, firefighters, architects, pilots, newscasters, actors, and athletes. Stay-at-home moms are recognized as well: "There are some moms whose job is taking care of their family. It sure is hard work, but they make it look easy!" Illustrations complement the narrative. Along with discussing what moms can do, another central theme is encouraging children to believe in themselves. "There are many amazing things a mom can do. The possibilities are endless, and the same goes for you." The book ends with a mom in a superhero cape holding hands with her child, who is wearing a matching superhero cape. VERDICT Recommended to highlight the importance of moms as role models, and the contributions they make in the community. This title can also inspire children to believe that they can be anything they want to be.-Robin Sofgeα(c) Copyright 2011. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
