Reviews

PreS-This upbeat title highlights the positive difference dads make in the community and as mentors to their children. Dads are shown singing and composing, driving trucks, farming, cooking, firefighting, being astronauts, and working as stay-at-home dads. Most pages have short sentences with one or two lines. Text complements the illustrations and reinforces the theme of the book. This board book also encourages children to believe in themselves. The story opens saying, "Dads are amazing because of all the things they can do. Someday you'll realize what's really amazing is you can, too." And the last page echoes this: "A dad can do anything he believes he can do, and when you grow up, you can, too!" The accompanying illustration shows a father in a superhero cape pushing a stroller. VERDICT Recommended for young children, because it highlights the importance of dads as role models and lets children know that they can be anything they set their minds to.-Robin Sofgeα(c) Copyright 2011.
