David B. Collins was born in 1962 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He spent his childhood in New Jersey, Southern California, and suburban Houston. His time at Rice University hooked him on city life and unconventional wisdom; his pastoral side emerges when he visits relatives in rural Connecticut and Missouri.
