From Library Journal

As the spate of recent titles on the subject attests, the proliferation of older working Americans is a socioeconomic phenomenon that demands attention. Whether out of financial necessity or to prolong the satisfaction obtained from work, an increasing number of Americans opt for full- or part-time employment after reaching retirement age. Menchin, a professional trend-spotter and former vice president of the Chicago Board of Trade, provides practical and detailed information regarding Social Security and age discrimination laws; career choice and job search; and such career alternatives as temporary work, self-employment, consultation, and volunteer activities. The book is a valuable resource for both the farsighted middle-aged worker contemplating his or her future and the employer contemplating hiring older workers. A thorough and readable work that will be a valuable addition to any library's career section.
