Grade 2-3?Wrapped around a core of an episode with a fictitious pair of storm chasers is a reasonable amount of information on tornadoes and the efforts made by meteorologists to learn more about them. A selection of tornado-generated incidents with high "Wow!" factors to engross reluctant readers are included. The whole ends with a section of sensible advice on actions to take in case of a tornado alert. The illustrations are pleasant enough, but some of the color photos are murky and lack definition. Still, for beginning readers, this is a readable companion to Franklyn Branley's Tornado Alert (Crowell, 1988) and Arlene Erlbach's Tornadoes (Children's Press, 1994).?Patricia Manning, formerly at Eastchester Public Library, NY
