About the Author:
Kristin Armstrong is a California native who now divides her time between Austin, Texas and the South of France. She graduated from Miami University in Oxford Ohio. In a previous life Kristin worked as a manager at a high technology company, and as an account executive for an advertising/public relations firm where she met her husband-to-be, Lance Armstrong.

She is now the oh-so-proud mother of a one-year old son named Luke and speaks halfway decent French. She enjoys running, reading, red wine and occasional tandem rides with her husband, Cancer survivor, Olympic medalist, and two-time Tour de France champion, Lance Armstrong. Lance and Kristin passionately support the fight against cancer and each other.

Why a book for children about her husband’s struggles? When Kristin was pregnant and trying to avoid the Texas heat, she stayed inside where it was air-conditioned and wrote these stories for their future child. Friends enjoyed them so much that they wanted copies for their kids, saying how hard it is to find a good role model these days. And so not long after, the book, and baby Luke, were born.

From Booklist:
Gr. 2-3. Armstrong's wife has written this captivating, well-paced biography in the All Aboard Reading series. Starting with his first bicycle, she follows her husband's life through his first triumph at the Tour de France and his battle with cancer to the birth of the couple's son. Written in language suitable for readers almost ready to make the transition to chapter books, the text is spiced with personal details that will interest a wide range of children. Plenty of photos (including a few fuzzy shots) and some less-compelling watercolor illustrations by Ken Call add to a gripping story. Gillian Engberg
