About the Author:
Author’s Biography Raised in an impoverished single parent household in Erie, Pennsylvania, Theodore S. Dance didn’t have the best odds to start with. The eldest of four children, Ted credits his mother with instilling faith, strength, character, and integrity in him. Early in his youth, athletics became an important connecting point to his dedicated mother. Her confidence in him gave him the drive to succeed. As a youth, he mastered the discipline and hard work necessary to excel in competition and had the opportunity to pursue scholarship offers. His life, however, was to take a different path: he and his high school sweetheart were to become young parents. Rather than pursuing opportunities that would further his dreams, he dedicated himself to building and caring for his young family. Two beautiful sons and six years later, Ted was faced with raising his two young sons alone. Ted has often said that raising his sons, as a single father, is the most important job he’s ever had. Giving them the love, support, and guidance that they needed to succeed was the most important priority in his life. He worked hard to create opportunities to build a better life for his young family, and give his sons the best advantages he possibly could. Greatest among these, of course, is an active and involved parent. Imparting to them a love of athletics and a drive for academic excellence, Ted raised his sons to have every quality he had been given by his mother. With his help, his sons each received Division I scholarships to attend the universities of their choice. Their success is a marvel, and is directly drawn from their father’s hard work, conscience, ethics, and personal strength. Many people have asked Ted how he was able to raise his sons to be the tremendous young men that they have become. In response to this, the dedicated single father, and hard working professional, took on yet another role: that of author. Writing from his heart and life experience with the added expertise of countless experts, coaches, parents, and athletes at all levels of competition, Ted has created Raising Athletic Stars: How To Put Integrity and Character Development Back In Play to inspire and enlighten all those who dream of success for their children.
