I wish I had read this book decades ago so I could have better prepared myself for civilian work and home life. It is a constant struggle dealing with the civies who do not relate to the morals, humor and mindset of the tight, warrior culture. Rather than ask the outside world to understand, the book explains how the former soldier can recognize what they are feeling is normal and how to fit back into civilian life. My most valuable take away from Dr. Cantrell and Chuck Dean's book was how to re-write a military resume to match a civilian job. It made so much common sense and explained many lost opportunities.
